Our future (And yours!)
We work with enthusiasm to be part of a cleaner and fairer world. But we also have many dreams and continue working toward a stable and solid future. In the coming years, we will continue expanding our tree-planting program to accelerate our conversion to agroforestry and diversify our crops and income.
In early 2023, with support from the World Bank, we began roasting our own coffees to increase our participation in the value chain. Many of our members have their coffees roasted at Cafesmo to sell at a higher price to restaurants, gas stations, or regional coffee shops. And all our members participate in our national supermarket program (by December 2024, our coffees were already being sold in more than 75 stores across the country!).
We also increase our production of organic fertilizer from cherry pulp every year. In addition, we generate some bio-ferments from the mucilage in wastewater. We also sell some of the cherry skins and are looking for more opportunities, although we are aware that demand is currently still low.
In addition, in 2025, we are studying the feasibility of a solar energy project to supply some of the energy we need for our offices, tasting laboratory and wet mill.
In 2016, Cafesmo was little more than a dream. Now that this dream has become a reality, we have even more dreams! But now, we also know that many decades ago, Eleanor Roosevelt was right: The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams!
